MBF Health and Wellbeing after Breast Cancer Study
Background to the study
Menopausal symptoms can affect the quality of life for women after treatment for breast cancer. These symptoms may occur because women are actually experiencing their menopause at the time of their diagnosis. However, they can also be caused by the therapy used to treat the breast cancer.
Other medical conditions, such as osteoporosis or depression, or changed family or social situations may also be more common after breast cancer and can have significant impact on future wellbeing.
By asking Victorian women who have been treated for breast cancer about these and other issues and how they manage them, we will be able to establish how widespread these problems are, and gain information to improve the health and wellbeing of women in their future lives.
Women participating in this study do not receive any different treatment or special medication, and will remain in the care of their treating physician. Participation does not affect the management of their breast cancer or participation in any other trials.
